A serious question
Rohingya Muslims as refugees
Refugees from Syria
Some people are suggesting that the Rohingya Muslims should be given asylum in India, if necessary by amending the Citizenship Act.
My question is, why only Rohingya Muslims? Lakhs of Muslims are fleeing their countries to escape unprecedented violence let loose by the ISIS. Bangladesh is overpopulated and the poor of the country are restless to enter India. Millions have already entered.
All such victims should be cordially invited to settle in India, the world's largest democracy. The borders between India and Bangladesh and between India and Myanmar should be declared open to allow free entry. Every Indian family should be ordered to keep at least one refugee family. The Rashtrapati Bhavan, PM’s residence and ministerial bungalows can accommodate thousands of such families. If there is will to help, there is no dearth of space. To start with, the supporters of giving asylum to Rohingya Muslims should open doors of their own houses.
I am sure, the whole world will feel relieved and declare India as the most liberal, secular and large-hearted country. India is sure to get the Nobel Prize for Peace for being so humanitarian. The world community will not have any responsibility. The UN will not required to have any refugee rehabilitation programme.
If Narendra Modi is not ready to be so large-hearted, he should be replaced by one who is ready to implement this humanitarian program. There are many leaders who can do that: Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh, Mani Shanker Aiyar, Mamata Banerjee, Mulayam Singh, Laloo Yadav, to name a few.

Must read the news item in the Economic Times on September 8, 2017:
“India and Bangladesh, through their joint counter-terror cooperation, have recently discovered that the ISI had allegedly played a key role in the masterminding a terror attack in Myanmar’s Rakhine state ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit.” (Rakhine state is home to Rohingya Muslims.)
“India and Bangladesh recently discovered that Hafiz Tohar, the military wing chief of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) has been maintaining close links with Pakistan’s ISI and the spy agency may have played a key role in the terror attacks that killed several members of Myanmarese Army.”
